How can I book a Marquee?

You have two options. If you know the marquee size you require and your dates - you can book directly online through the marquee tab. If you do not or need some assistance, then you can contact us through our request a quote tab.

Hire Prices

HappyHire strive to offer the best hire prices in the region! Our prices are based on an up to a 4 day hire period. All prices include GST.

Pickup and Delivery Fees

HappyHire offer free set up & removal with delivery and collection for Marquee set ups in Christchurch.

A minimum charge of $80 Delivery and collection Fee applies to orders of other products where no Marquee is hired. (alternatively you may collect / drop off the items hired from us, please contact your local branch for their location)

How do I know if I need to pay a Delivery Fee?

Unless otherwise agreed all bookings that require delivery and collection will incur a fee. If you book online we will amend the invoice at our end with a delivery fee and send back to you for payment.

Why do I have to pay a Delivery Fee?

The delivery and collection fee is to cover fuel, vehicle maintenance and staff costs. In most cases we deliver and collect so this is 4 trips for our staff.

What if I required a booking at short notice?

For bookings made within 3 days of your event we suggest you call 0800 30 90 90 to ensure we can cater for your event at short notice.

Can we install the marquee ourselves?

In most instances no. To ensure marquees are installed correctly and not damaged we prefer to set up and dismantle.

Do I require a permit/consent?

The New Zealand Building Code requires all marquees 100m2 and over to obtain a building consent from the relevant local authority (e.g. Christchurch City Council) prior to erection. The purpose of the consent is to ensure that certain safety conditions are met. It is the hirer’s responsibility to obtain this consent - but we can help!

Do I have to wash the Marquee/equipment?

Yes please, we ask that you wipe down all tables, chairs and marquees before we come for dismantle (except for linen). The equipment should be returned in the same condition as it was hired in and goods that were used need to be washed.

Am I insured?

Insurance is the responsibility of the hirer. While it is likely that your insurance policy provides sufficient cover, please consult with your insurance company.

What size marquee do I require?

See our link for suggested marquee size. We have a number of marquee sizes and can join marquees together so we can offer a number of shapes and sizes to assist with your event. Keep in mind that the sizes will vary depending on whether quests will be seated for dining or standing and whether there is a bar, buffet, band or DJ and a dance floor area. If unsure, feel free to ask.

Do Your Marquees include walls?

Yes, all HappyHire marquees include a full set of walls. On the ends of the marquees you will have full white walls. On the sides you will have church window walls. These come in 2m sections so you have the flexibility of adding an entrance wherever suits. If you need to depart from this just tell us.

What Lighting do I require?

HappyHire has a number of lighting options available, including standard lights, disco lights, strobe, mirror balls, black lights and more. If you need help deciding, just ask :)

Will I need Heating?

Even in the middle of summer a heater may be necessary. Budget for a heater just in case, as there is nothing worse than going to all the expense of hosting your guests only for them to become uncomfortable because of the cold. We hire LPG blow heaters that work very well.

What PA systems do you have available?

HappyHire hires a number of PA Systems ranging from 50w wireless speaker systems (suitable for speeches/background music) to powerful 800w systems suitable for your main music! Our PA systems come with stands and wires to hook up your laptop / ipod. Microphones and Mic Stands are also available.

When should I book?

You should try to book your marquee as soon as possible to ensure its availability on the dates you require.

Can Marquees be erected on any surface?

Sort of. We can erect marquees on grass (pegged) or any hard surface (with weights). Please note there is a surcharge when weights are required. Please also note that marquees can only be set up in an area where the whole marquee is on one level. That means they are not suitable on slopes or drops etc.
